The Kidnapping of the Sabine Women

hi everyone, welcome to a new post.
I've always been a mythology and ancient languages lover, enthusiast if I may, and it wouldn't shock anyone that when I found out I would be taking latin as a school subject I couldn't be more excited and thrilled.
So, i'll be talking about an incident in Roman mythology that I learned about in school. Whether you're familiar with it or just hearing about it for the first time, I hope you like this post.
The kidnapping of the Sabine Women is a Roman myth that took place in the early history of Rome, in which the men of Rome came up with a plan to abduct the women of the Sabine people. This plan consisted in inviting the nearest populations to celebrate "Neptuno Equestri" or, in english, Neptune Equester. Since this was a new region, they were all curious to see what they would do as a celebration.
When the Sabines got there, the games began and Romulus, the founder of what turned out to be a huge empire in the world's history, gave permission through a sign and the Romans grabbed the women and fought against the Sabine men.
The motivation that lead to this abduction is unknown and discussed among different sources.
Learning about this story was very fascinating to me. Until now, even if having already heard about how barbaric the Roman people could have been, I could not portrait them as such violent people as they appear to be with this story. You don't learn about these episodes during history classes so I was quite impressed.
Thank you for reading this till the end, if you did, I hope you liked it, let me know if you have any comments.
